Sea Green Walk (1.6km
distance - allow 30 minutes) start
by walking down the Quai Chanzy, turn left across the
Pont Marguet and back up the Quai Gambetta and Quai des
Paquebots to Nausicaä
which is the French National Sealife Centre.
Purple Walk
(1.6km distance - allow 30 minutes plus)
start by walking
down the Quai Chanzy, turn left across the Pont Marguet.
This is the direct route to the gate of the Old Town.
Proceed up the gentle hill that is the Rue Faidherbe and
turn right towards the main gate via the Rue d'Artois.
Orange Walk
(0.75km distance - allow
40 minutes) start by walking down the Quai Chanzy,
turn left across the Pont Marguet. This route takes you
on the gastronomic route to the Old Town via the Place
Dalton. Twice a week there is a market in the square and
you may wish to allow extra time for this. Proceed along
the Grande Rue to the main gate of the Old Town.
The Old Town
is a "must go to" destination. It is surrounded by its
ancient walls enclosing both the cathedral and chateau.
In the centre is a passage of restaurants and bars that
you will find are most inviting - but, if you stop,
allow over an hour to reach the ferry terminal for check
in on your journey back to Folkestone. |
